    Requests for Information or assertions of error related to the servicing of a mortgage loan excluding HELOCs:

    Notices of Error/Requests for Information

    Federal Law allows you to make, and requires TCF National Bank to respond to, certain written requests for information or assertions of error related to the servicing of a mortgage loan, which may be referred to as "Requests for Information", "Notices of Error" or "Qualified Written Requests". TCF National Bank has established the following address for receiving Requests for Information, Notices of Error, and Qualified Written Requests:

    You must use the established address to assert errors and request information. TCF will be unable to assist you with Notices of Error, Requests for Information and Qualified Written Requests that are sent to TCF addresses other than the established address. Your letter must include your name and your account number, and must state the specific servicing error you believe has occurred or the servicing information you are requesting. Do not submit inquiries written on a payment coupon or mortgage billing statement.

    Disputing Information TCF provides to Consumer Reporting Agencies:

    If you believe that we have reported information regarding your loan with us incorrectly to a credit reporting agency, you may dispute the accuracy of the reporting to both the credit reporting agency and to us. To dispute the accuracy of the information to us, you must send a written notice of dispute to:

    As required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the notice of dispute must contain the following information:

    1. Your name, address and telephone number;
    2. The account number that is in the dispute, if available;
    3. The specific information that you believe is inaccurate;
    4. An explanation of why you believe the information is inaccurate; and
    5. A copy of the relevant portion of the consumer report that you believe is inaccurate and any other supporting documentation. 

    If you believe you have been the victim of identity theft, we may ask you to submit an affidavit of identity theft or an identity theft report. When we receive your notice of dispute that includes the above information, we will investigate the dispute.
